Meeting the needs of leaders in SEND schools across the North East
Starting February / March 2018

How will the NPQML benefit you?
This bespoke, accredited NPQML has been specially designed to support teachers working in Special Needs Schools to become a highly effective middle leaders with the skills, confidence and knowledge to contribute to the development of their schools. There are many challenges and opportunities working within North East Special Schools. This qualification will provide you with a deeper insight into how leaders meet the challenges and make the most of the opportunities that come with working within the Special Schools context.

Who is it for?
NPQML has been developed for those who are leading a team with the responsibilities and accountabilities associated with a middle leadership role and for those aspiring leaders ambitious to achieve promotion.

Course content
Face to Face Day 1
Leading Change – leadership behaviours and leadership styles, models of change management, leading and managing a team
Face to Dace Day 2
Leadership Conference
Face to Face Day 3
Being an Effective Middle Leader – Department self-evaluation, using data, the curriculum, staff appraisal, delivering professional learning
School improvement project
Ongoing over two terms with write up towards final assessment

Course delivery
This course is delivered by L4NE, an accredited NPQ provider, in partnership with Sunningdale Teaching School. L4NE combines first-hand strengths of leadership and experience in primary, secondary and special schools/academies, the proven track record of St Bede’s (a highly experienced NPQ Licensee) in leadership development.
Sunningdale is a specialist provider of education for children aged from 2 to 11 who have severe, profound, multiple and complex learning needs and is recognised by Ofsted as an outstanding school.

NPQML Costs
The cost for NPQML participants is £600 (including assessment). This cost is subsidised by Sunningdale School Teaching School Alliance.

Please note: to start the programme you will need the full support of your headteacher. To achieve this nationally recognised qualification you will have been successful in leading a school improvement project.
