Sunningdale School Teacher Training Programmes
In partnership with leading SEND schools and accredited by Northumbria University, we offer two training programmes:
- Early Years & Key Stage 1 (ages 3-7)
- Key Stage 1 & 2 (ages 5-11)
Our courses provide postgraduate placements in SEND schools, specifically designed for those aspiring to teach children with special needs. Graduates gain QTS and, upon successful completion, can earn either a Level 6 or Level 7 PGCE. Many of our trainees secure teaching roles immediately after qualifying.
Why Train in SEND?
One in six children has special educational needs, from behavioural and social challenges to sensory impairments and autism. The skills gained in our programme are invaluable in any educational setting.
Entry Requirements
Candidates need a 2:2 or higher Honours degree, GCSEs in English, maths, and science (grades 9-4), and a passion for working with SEND children. Experience in educational or care settings and an enhanced DBS check are required.
Application and Interview Process
Apply through the Department of Education’s Find Teacher Training website. Select a school for your placement, and if shortlisted, attend an interview at Sunningdale School, including a tour, teaching observation, assessment, and formal interview.
Course Fees
The programme costs £9,250, payable to Northumbria University.
Join us to start your journey into SEND teaching—an impactful and fulfilling career awaits.
