Sunningdale Teaching School is collaborating with Culture Bridge to host Arts Awards Advisor Training for educational and creative practitioners who want to support children with special educational needs gain Arts Award Qualifications.
What is Arts Award?
Arts Award is a nationally recognised arts qualification for children and young people which is part of the Regulatory Qualifications Framework. Children and young people take part in the arts, find out about artists and review arts events. They collect evidence along the way, reflect on what they’ve been doing and build a portfolio of work.
Arts Award can cover a wide range of art forms; from visual arts to drama, and from creative writing to music. It’s about exploring, enjoying and developing in the arts and is often what organisations, artists, services and schools are already delivering: Arts Award puts a framework around the activity, and accredits the children’s work through a qualification.
Supporting Children to Gain the Qualification: Becoming a Discover and Explore Adviser
Children and young people who want to do Arts Award need the support of a trained Arts Award Adviser; their role is to support, signpost, and assess the Arts Award portfolios.
By becoming an Arts Awards Adviser, you will be in a position to support the children you work with to gain Discover and Explore Arts Awards qualifications. At Sunningdale School we are aware that it’s often very difficult for children in SEND schools to evidence their artistic skills in the same way as children working in mainstream educational settings do, so we have commissioned the training with this in mind.
Whilst participating in this half day course you will be provided with information about the Arts Award framework and introduced to a number of ways though which the children you work with might create a portfolio of evidence enabling them to gain Arts Awards certification in the same way that their mainstream peers do.
Training Cost
The Discover and Explore Advisor Training costs £150 including a networking lunch. We hope lunch participants will enjoy the opportunity to share ideas and explore opportunities to collaborate on arts project post the training session.
You will receive an invoice following confirmation of your place on the programme. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
