Event Details

Forest School is an innovative approach to facilitating new learning opportunities through outdoor play.

This workshop is an introductory session for educational practitioners working in Nursery, Lower Primary and Special Schools, and also for parents and carers interested in making the most of outdoor spaces to create new learning opportunities for their children or those in their care.

Whilst participating in the workshop you will develop an understanding of Forest School and the ethos behind it. The School will share its experience of how it developed its own Forest School environment and how it has been used to foster a lifelong love for, and appreciation of, the natural environment amongst the children in the school.

You will gain an understanding of how the Forest School environment can support children to develop a sense of independence and enhance their self-esteem, confidence and social skills. We will explore some basic activities and learn how these can be safely applied to the benefit of the children you work with.

The workshop has been designed in such a way as to enable the sharing of ideas and an exploration of how Forest School might be developed to within your own area of work.
Additionally, you may also find the day useful in determining whether or not to undertake accredited practitioner training in Forest School methodology.

This is a fun, hands-on workshop. Part of the session will take place outdoors and you will need:

  • Secure outdoor footwear (e.g. walking or work boots)
  • Suitable outdoor clothing (waterproof, warm)
  • Sunscreen (if appropriate)
  • Long trouser

This course costs  £80 for professionals this includes lunch. You will receive an invoice following confirmation of your place on the programme.
Places are limited on this course so please book early to avoid disappointment.

If we find that Covid 19 restrictions are still in place we will contact you to postpone this training well in advance of the scheduled date.
